With its sandy beaches and vibrant towns, there’s plenty to discover in Thanet this summer!
From the 2nd June, the Loop is becoming even more regular and reliable, making exploring Thanet the perfect holiday plan. For just £5.70 you can enjoy one day’s unlimited travel with a Thanet DayRider, allowing you to hop on and off at a range of popular destinations.
On a sunny day, why not take a trip to Ramsgate? The Ramsgate Harbour bus stop is surrounded by a range of cafés, bars and restaurants that offer stunning views of the UK’s only royal harbour. It’s also practically on top of the Main Sands, so don’t forget to bring your bucket and spade!
Once the sun goes down, you can take a quick trip along Wellington Crescent to head into the recently re-opened Granville Theatre. Hosting a wide range of entertainers, including music and comedy acts, you’re bound to find something there to please even the harshest critic.
In August, Broadstairs Folk Week offers the chance for all the family to celebrate the town’s heritage. Running from 9th to 16th August, the festival is an extravaganza of folk music, arts, crafts, and dance, topped off, of course, by the iconic Hooden Horses. There’s also a craft fair where you can buy unique gifts and keepsakes made by local creatives and artisans. Folk Week is always busy, but with the festival’s main bandstand being only a five-minute walk away from the Baptist Church bus stop, the Loop is a fantastic way to avoid a parking nightmare!
If you’re still craving more of the festival atmosphere, the Margate Summer Series is hosting acts as wide-ranging as JLS, Bryan Adams, IDLES and Margate Pride’s very own Drag Party. Hop off at Cecil Street Council Offices and follow the music until you arrive at Dreamland! While you wait for the act to arrive, you can enjoy the theme park’s retro rides or, if you prefer your feet firmly on the ground, grab a bite to eat.
For a quieter day out, you can explore Thanet’s scenic coastline from the comfort of an open-top bus. Still using your Thanet DayRider, you can jump on the route 69 bus anywhere between Stone Bay and Ramsgate’s Boating Pool to enjoy the seaside breeze in style. Sharing stops with the Loop at Broadstairs’ Baptist Church and at Ramsgate Harbour, it’s never been easier to make the most of the Thanet sunshine!
