Stagecoach offers free travel for veterans and military personnel this Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day

08 Nov 2024

Stagecoach has announced that free travel will be available on all its bus services across the UK for serving military, cadets, and veterans on Sunday 10th and Monday 11th November 2024.

The offer applies to any serving personnel or cadet in uniform, those with a military ID card, and veterans wearing medals or veterans' badges attending remembrance services.

Stagecoach South East is proud to have a specially designed bus livery in partnership with the Royal British Legion, and many buses will also be proudly decorated with poppies to support their yearly Poppy Appeal.

Joel Mitchell, Managing Director for Stagecoach South East, said: “It’s a huge privilege to be able to honour the bravery and dedication of our Armed Forces, cadets, and veterans by offering them free travel for Remembrance events on Sunday and Monday.

“This initiative underscores our commitment to supporting those who have served our country, along with the families and communities who support them.”

Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day commemorate the contributions of military servicemen and women in Britain and the Commonwealth. While it is most often associated with World War One, it is an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifice and service of all people in all wars.

Stagecoach’s free travel for the Armed Forces is supported by its employee-led Veterans Network which was established to unite former military personnel within the business. The network offers a platform for veterans to drive positive change, raise awareness, shape business decisions, and implement new initiatives to enhance the company.

Stagecoach has also been a member of the Armed Forces Covenant since March 2015. The Covenant recognises the value of serving personnel, regular and reservists, veterans and military families across the country.
