Thanet’s open top bus is set to return this Saturday.
Bus operator Stagecoach has confirmed the number 69 service will resume operating on 5th April, commencing its 2025 season.
The popular service carried 35,000 passengers last season, giving a significant boost to the local economy. The vintage-style cream and maroon double decker also featured in adverts for Visit Kent, promoting the county’s top tourist attractions.
The service will run daily throughout the school holidays and on weekends during term-time. This means you can catch the open top any day between the 5th and 21st April to enjoy some springtime sunshine.
Operating hourly between the West Cliff in Ramsgate and Stone Bay in Broadstairs, passengers are able to hop on and off at bus stops all along the seaside route.
Single tickets are available for £3 and DayRider tickets, for a day’s unlimited travel, will cost £5.50. Thanet Open Top Group DayRider tickets are available on the app or from the driver, allowing groups of up to 5 passengers to enjoy a day’s unlimited travel on the service for just £14.
Phil St Pierre, Operations Manager at Stagecoach’s Thanet depot, said: “We’re really looking forward to another fantastic season of open top fun! As well as a must-do for visitors and tourists, it’s popular with local residents too. People just want to get out and enjoy the seaside experience, and what better way to do so than from a seat on the top deck!”
