Changes to bus services in East Sussex from Sunday 12 April 2026

From Sunday 12 April 2026, there will be some changes to bus routes and timetables across Eastbourne and Hastings.

These changes follow a reduction in bus support funding available to East Sussex County Council (ESCC) from central funding. As a result, some services - particularly evening and Sunday journeys - will no longer operate. There are some other minor timetable changes for reliability improvements.

What's changing

Across the network, most routes will continue to run, with some minor timetable changes to improve reliability.

On some routes:

A small number of evening journeys will be withdrawn
Some Sunday services will be reduced or removed
A few routes will see changes to evening coverage

Route 5A: replaced by route 52 with new links to District General Hospital, Polegate, Hailsham. Route 5B: evening journeys after 7pm withdrawn; new route 99E serves South Harbour & ASDA.
