Stagecoach staff in South Wales put their chef’s hats on and held a series of coffee and cake sales across each depot. The company bought a selection of cakes for each area and staff generously added to the offering by baking or donating cakes which were sold throughout the day. Hot drinks were also offered to staff.
The final amount collected was over £650 and the company decided to donate the money to Macmillan Cancer Cymru. Nicola Newhams, Regional Fundraising Manager for Bridgend, RCT, Merthyr Tydfil and South Powys came to Porth depot to collect the cheque and meet some of the staff who had been involved in the fundraising.
Nicola was delighted with the efforts and told the staff how the money raised would not only go towards helping Cancer patients but assist with costs for nurses to provide treatment and support for the patients.
Nigel Winter, Managing Director for Stagecoach in South Wales said: “It’s fantastic to see our staff making such an effort to raise money for a worthwhile cause, especially when it gives them the chance to enjoy a slice of cake and a hot drink. I’d like to commend them again on their dedication to making a difference and giving so generously.“
