Stagecoach in South Wales sponsors junior football team as a tribute to Blackwood Driver
Blackwood driver Simon Coundley, better known as ‘Bryn’ approached Stagecoach in South Wales this summer as he wanted the company to sponsor his sons’ football team, New Inn Juniors FC and provide them with new football shirts. Much to Bryn’s delight, Stagecoach accepted his request and in return Bryn arranged for the shirts to feature the Stagecoach logo.
Very sadly, before the shirts were finalised, Bryn passed away suddenly. As a tribute to him, Mark Rogers Operations Manager for Blackwood Depot and Rosa Williams, Marketing Manager met with coach Gareth Bridgewater and the junior football team including Bryn’s son to present the cheque for sponsorship and were invited to watch the team train at the ‘Fairwater Leisure Centre’ in Cwmbran.
Mark Rogers said “We were extremely honoured to be able to present the young footballers with the cheque for sponsorship and it was great to see them in their new football shirts, they were so grateful. It was a pleasure to watch them train and I know Bryn would be extremely proud of his son and the team. Bryn was a valued member of staff and he will be greatly missed by all. We have displayed Bryn’s picture on our ‘great people’ board in Blackwood depot which will now be joined by the picture of the football team he loved so much”.
