Stagecoach South Wales invests in a new fleet of buses across Torfaen

Stagecoach South Wales has made a major £1.6 million investment in cleaner, modern buses for Torfaen County Borough with 9 brand new single deck buses.

The new slimline solo vehicles feature Euro VI engines, which are cleaner engines helping to cut carbon emissions and improve air quality across the borough as older buses are replaced, delivering a reduction of around 70% in NOx as a result.

The new buses feature e-leather seats and are equipped with features such as audio-visual next stop technology, USB charging points and tap on, tap off payment devices. The buses will operate from Stagecoach’s depot in Cwmbran.

To celebrate the arrival of the new buses, Stagecoach held a showcasing event in Cwmbran Centre yesterday where the bus was parked in Gwent square for the day. The Stagecoach team including Martin Gibbon, Stagecoach South Wales Managing Director were there to welcome people on board, hand out information about the new buses and also tell their customers about their great value tickets across Cwmbran and Torfaen.

Martin said: “The new, fleet of buses represents a huge investment by Stagecoach within Torfaen and highlights our commitment to improving bus travel in the region.

“We hope the new buses will encourage more people to use public transport as a sustainable travel option whilst helping reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in our community.

“It was great to see so many people in Cwmbran celebrate this new commercial investment, our customers were very excited to come on board, see the interior and features of the bus and are looking forward to seeing the new buses go out into service.
