Stagecoach South Wales secures 3 nominations at the UK Bus Awards 2024

Stagecoach South Wales, the largest operator in South East Wales, has secured three nominations at this year’s UK Bus Awards.

David Samuels, Workshop Manager at Caerphilly depot has been shortlisted for the ‘Engineer of the Year’ award. He has been described by his colleagues as an exceptional leader whose commitment and drive to be the best has been instrumental in their success in the engineering department.

Lee Arndell, Duty Manager at Aberdare depot has been shortlisted for the ‘Unsung Hero’ award. He is a valued member of the operations team; he strives to help others and injects positivity into the workplace. 

Our Grand Day Out initiative in partnership with Age Cymru has been shortlisted for the ‘Partnership for Excellence’ award. This initiative is designed to bring together older adults aged 60 and over to boost their confidence to explore the region by bus. The first event was held in June 2024 where 20 members of the Age Cymru Nordic walking group visited Cyfarthfa Castle in Merthyr Tydfil travelling by bus.

The prestigious UK Bus Awards have been running since 1996, set up to spotlight the dedication, expertise, success and innovation of those in the transport industry. The shortlist was decided by a panel of judges led by their Convenor of Judges, Alan Millar.

The awards will be presented at Troxy in London on 26 November 2024.
