- Stagecoach South Wales will maintain the connection between Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff with a new “X4” service.
- Stagecoach South Wales will no longer operate the T4 service between Newtown and Cardiff.
Stagecoach South Wales, part of the UK’s largest bus operator, has confirmed changes to service T4 from the 1st of September.
Stagecoach South Wales will no longer operate the T4 on behalf of TrawsCymru. The T4 service that currently runs between Cardiff and Newtown, will continue to run between Merthyr Tydfil and Newtown by another operator following a competitive tender process.
In place of the T4, Stagecoach South Wales will introduce the X4 service. This new service will run between Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff, with buses operating up to every sixty minutes, Monday to Saturday. The new X4 service will serve Treforest Industrial Estate, offering improved connections to places of education, work and leisure.
Martin Gibbon, Managing Director, Stagecoach South Wales, said: "Introducing service X4 will allow us to maintain the vital connection between Wales’ capital and the largest town in the valleys. This service ensures that our customers will continue to have a reliable link between these key locations.
By choosing the bus, customers can avoid the stress of driving in a congested city centre as well as the stress of finding a parking space."
