Get around for £2 with Stagecoach South

· Bus services in Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex to offer single fares capped at a maximum of £2 as part of national government initiative

As the New Year starts, passengers in the Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex are being encouraged to make the most of the new £2 single bus fares with a trip’s across the South.

Stagecoach is encouraging local communities to leave their cars at home and try using the bus to visit friends and family, go to the shops or to commute to work. The new initiative can help them save money vs the cost of petrol whilst also benefitting the environment with one full double decker bus taking over 70 cars off the road.

The scheme, which is now live until 31 March 2023 means customers can travel for only £2 for a single journey as part of the Department for Transport’s new fares initiative, through the Government’s Help for Households campaign.

Gordon Frost, Managing Director for Stagecoach South said: “We are pleased that this initiative is now live, which will help so many people at a time where money needs to stretch further and at the same time aims to reduce car use and encourage people onto more sustainable public transport.

“We already offer some of the lowest ticket prices in the country, with daily travel under £3.00. We hope that this new promotion helps more people to get on board with us, and continue benefitting from our value-for-money tickets after the government scheme has ended.”

The scheme means all adult, concession and child single tickets on eligible routes will be capped at £2, with any single tickets previously cheaper than this remaining the same price. This nationwide scheme in England is funded by the Department for Transport.
