Festive bus raises money for Sophie's Legacy

Staff at Portsmouth’s Stagecoach bus depot went all out at Christmas with their Santa bus, raising £1000 for a local charity, Sophie’s Legacy.

The festive single decker bus received a Christmas makeover and was driven by Santa or the Elf across the network serving destinations across the city as well as Havant, Waterlooville and Hayling Island until Christmas Eve and passengers received sweet treats and the opportunity to donate to Sophie's Legacy.

Colin Ashcroft, Operations Manager for Stagecoach buses in Portsmouth said “Our Santa bus has become a great tradition for the local communities we serve. We are delighted to have chosen Sophie’s Legacy as the fundraising charity and I’m sure that our customers will be pleased knowing that they have helped raise such an amazing amount for a great cause".

Sophie's Legacy is a charity that supports families in making time in hospital for children a better experience. They provide food, toiletries, transport, clothing as well as parent packs. The charity was set up at the start of 2022 and has since raised thousands of pounds and have been providing life changing support.

Charlotte Fairall, Sophie's Legacy founder said “We want to thank everyone involved at Stagecoach for choosing our charity and raising such needed funds. We support families admitted to hospital with their children and rely solely on donations. Without the public's support we wouldn't be able to support the families that we do. The need especially at the moment is really high so the money will make such a difference to families in hospital.”
