Sussex Bus Driver to take on London to Paris charity bike ride

15 Mar 2023

A Stagecoach bus driver, based in Chichester, West Sussex is doing his bit for charity, and swapping the driver’s seat for the saddle, to embark on a grueling bike ride to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust (MS Trust).

Steve Murphy, is taking part in the London to Paris cycle, a 4-day course which covers a distance of 315 miles, capital to capital.

The tour will start from Blackheath in London on 19th July 2023 and follow the English countryside through the county of Kent to Dover before crossing the English channel to Dunkirk. From here the route will travel South, for 3 days, through Cambrai and Soissons, to the capital City of Paris.

Steve is hopeful that he will raise £1,500 for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust (MS Trust) and has, so far, raised over £250 through his Just Giving page .

Steve said "Multiple Sclerosis is a lifelong condition that affects the brain and nerves. This is my bid to raise money for the MS Trust to help making life better for people living with multiple sclerosis by providing free information to everyone affected by Multiple Sclerosis and by supporting the health professionals who work with multiple sclerosis.

Steve added: “I realise that this challenge can raise awareness of the trust and the support they provide patients. So, this isn't just a ride, it has more meaning behind it.”

Phil Escott, Operations Manager for Stagecoach in Chichester said, “We are always happy to support and get behind our staff in their fundraising efforts and would like to commend Steve on his dedication to the MS Trust, and on behalf of the Stagecoach team, we wish him well for his upcoming cycle ride".
