Timetable improvements are being made to some Stagecoach bus routes around Basingstoke

Communities and businesses in Basingstoke are set to benefit from a raft of bus timetable improvements being introduced by Stagecoach at the end of June.

More frequent daytime buses will be introduced on services to Chineham, Buckskin, Kempshott, Hatch Warren and Beggarwood. The improved timetables will also provide more buses during the morning peak times, improving access to work and education.

Residents of Vyne Park, and businesses on the Chineham Business Park, will also see more buses added to service 20, which will run every 15 minutes during the weekday peak times, and every 20 minutes across the daytime during weekdays and Saturdays. A new Sunday service will also be introduced, with buses running every 30 minutes during the daytime. 

The new timetables come into force on Sunday 30th June, and follow earlier improvements introduced by the bus company in May, which saw several routes become more frequent and more accessible, including a new Sunday service to Kingsclere and Newbury, thanks to an injection of Bus Service Improvement Plan money (BSIP) made available in partnership with Hampshire County Council and the Department for Transport.

Kerry Mansfield, Operations Manager for Stagecoach in Basingstoke said “We’re committed to getting more people to travel by bus and these timetable improvements are because of increasing demand on our services. 

Already, we are seeing some positive impact on timetable changes made last month through BSIP funding and I’m confident this latest package of enhanced services will help to further grow the use of sustainable travel in the area, providing more convenient frequencies for local residents to access work, education and leisure. 

For residents that may not have travelled with us before, our single fares remain capped at just £2 a journey, now is a great time to start using their local bus service, making way for a cleaner, better environment for all.”

To celebrate the launch of the new Sunday timetable, service 20, between Vyne Park and the town centre, will be completely free to use on 30th June and all Sundays throughout July!
