From Apprentice to Leader - Ryan’s Inspiring Journey with Stagecoach

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week 2025, we are proud to highlight the remarkable journey of Ryan, whose dedication and passion have significantly contributed to Stagecoach's success since he began his employment with us in 2015.

Ryan Goodridge, Leading Driver

2015: Early Beginnings

Ryan's journey with Stagecoach commenced during his school years when he undertook work experience with us. His exceptional performance earned him the 'Student Worker of the Year' award for Hampshire, a recognition nominated by our Training Development Manager and presented by the BBC.

2017: Stepping into the Industry

Demonstrating a keen interest in the transport sector, Ryan joined the Winchester depot as a Travel Advisor in 2017. In this role, he provided invaluable assistance to passengers, showcasing his commitment to customer service and deepening his understanding of our operations.

2019: Breaking New Ground

At just 18, Ryan became one of the youngest bus drivers in the UK, starting his driving career at the Andover depot. Concurrently, he embarked on a Level 2 Passenger Transport apprenticeship, reflecting his dedication to professional development and excellence in service delivery.

2020: Leading by Example

Ryan's commitment to growth saw him become the first driver to successfully complete the new apprenticeship scheme. His achievements were recognised with a trophy from Test Valley Council. He also took on the role of a qualified mentor at the Andover depot, guiding new drivers and sharing his expertise.

2023: Rising Through the Ranks

Continuing his upward trajectory, Ryan was promoted to Leading Driver/Supervisor at the Andover depot in 2023. In this capacity, he managed daily operations and supported his colleagues, ensuring the highest standards of service and safety.

2024: Embracing New Challenges

In 2024, Ryan expanded his responsibilities by taking on the role of Relief Controller at the Andover depot. This position allowed him to further develop his leadership skills and contribute to the efficient management of our services.

Ryan's journey exemplifies the profound impact of apprenticeships on individual growth and organisational success. His story underscores the value of dedication, continuous learning, and the opportunities that apprenticeships provide. As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2025, we honour Ryan's achievements and the contributions of all our apprentices who play a vital role in driving our industry forward.
