Spotlight on Simon Thompson: Engineering Apprentice at Stagecoach South

Based in Basingstoke, Simon is a second-year Engineering Apprentice who has been with Stagecoach for a year and a half. His journey into the world of engineering is an inspiring story of passion, determination, and growth.

From College to Career

Before joining Stagecoach, Simon completed a Level 2 Motorsport course at college. Like many young people with a passion for mechanics and engineering, he was eager to take the next step and gain hands-on experience. That’s when he discovered Stagecoach’s Engineering Apprenticeship program.

Simon saw it as the perfect opportunity to combine education with practical experience, saying, “An apprenticeship is getting life and work experiences while still learning at the same time.”

Life as an Apprentice

Simon’s day-to-day involves working alongside the experienced engineering team in Basingstoke. He’s fully immersed in the trade, developing his skills, and gaining invaluable insights into the industry. Reflecting on his experience so far, Simon shared, “I’m on the tools, learning, and enjoying it.”
