Electric Bus Cumnock

Stagecoach West Scotland has announced that it will be trialling an electric Optare Solo on its Cumnock 49A service.

Sam Greer, Stagecoach West Scotland Managing Director said: “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to trial the electric Optare Solo within our operating area.  We’ve chosen to trial the electric bus on the 49A service to assess how the bus will perform in the varied terrain in Cumnock.   During the trial we will be looking for feedback from both our customers and drivers on vehicle comfort and performance.”

Following the trial, Stagecoach West Scotland engineers will gather feedback and assess the suitability of the vehicles for wider operations in West Scotland.

Sam continued: “Stagecoach hybrid and electric vehicles are already in service within other areas of the UK, however technology moves at such a pace that we need to constantly evaluate the most current iterations of electric vehicle technology available.”

Customers travelling on the 49A service will be able to experience the zero-emissions bus from Saturday 15 December 2018.
