Stagecoach West Scotland has seen 260 of its drivers recognised for exceptional bus driving by the driver safety specialists GreenRoad.

The 260 drivers who work out of the Stagecoach bus depots in Ayr, Ardrossan, Cumbernauld, Dumfries and Kilmarnock have all been awarded for their dedication to road safety.

And 84 of the drivers achieved the prestigious ‘Master Fleet Elite’ status for maintaining a Fleet Elite rating for four or more consecutive years. The other successful drivers awarded a GreenRoad honour were recognised in the gold, silver and bronze categories.

Every 12 months, GreenRoad awards Master Fleet Elite status to drivers who demonstrate sustained driving excellence as evidenced by outstanding safety scores and displaying true mastery of the driving profession.

The Master Fleet Elite award inspires a continued focus on road safety and is a source of pride for drivers that helps bus companies improve driver safety, save lives and reduce risk.

GreenRoad's driver safety system has been installed on all Stagecoach vehicles using a simple traffic light LED system on the dashboard to give drivers instant feedback about their driving manoeuvres, encouraging smoother, safer, and more fuel-efficient driving.

Fiona Doherty, Managing Director of Stagecoach West Scotland, said: “The safety of our staff and customers is the number one priority at Stagecoach so I’m extremely proud that such a huge number of our drivers have been recognised for their driving excellence.

“Being part of the GreenRoad Fleet Elite is a prestigious award for all bus drivers so a massive congratulations to all 260 drivers. What a fantastic achievement.”
