Stagecoach confirms restart of bus services into Kilmarnock Bus Station from 6pm tonight

21 Sep 2022

Stagecoach West Scotland confirms that from this evening (Wednesday 21 Sept), bus services will resume calling into Kilmarnock Bus Station. Evening bus services were suspended temporarily at the bus station due to antisocial behaviour impacting the safety of passengers and drivers.

Fiona Doherty, Managing Director of Stagecoach West Scotland said: “We can confirm that we are reinstating bus services this evening at Kilmarnock Bus Station with the full support of Police Scotland and East Ayrshire Council.  The safety of our passengers and drivers is our first priority and we are pleased with the support being provided by both”.

Chief Inspector Alison Wilson from Police Scotland said: “I would like to reassure members of our local community that officers have been actively responding to concerns raised by residents about youth disorder and antisocial behaviour in and around Kilmarnock Bus Station.

Along with our partners, East Ayrshire Council and Stagecoach, we are all working together to minimise any further disruption to transport and the community. Bus Services will again resume via Kilmarnock Bus Station after 18.00 hours effective from today (21/09/2022).

Over the coming days, there will be additional patrols in the area to offer reassurance to the public and to identify anyone involved in this antisocial behaviour.

We will continue to deal proactively with those who engage in antisocial behaviour and crimes which have a negative impact on our community wellbeing. A number of youths have been reported for offences including Culpable and Reckless Conduct, Vandalism and contravention of Section 38 of the Criminal Justice and Licensing Scotland Act.

We continue to work with East Ayrshire Council and Stagecoach, to ensure we are using all resources available to us to provide solutions to this issue.”
