- Under 22s can travel for free across Ayrshire with a valid NEC card
- Frequent express and local services connect Ayr with Glasgow, Kilmarnock and surrounding communities
- Late evening journeys from Ayr support safe and convenient travel home
Young people across Ayrshire are being encouraged to make the most of free bus travel this weekend as Stagecoach supports travel to the Pavilion Festival at Low Green on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May.
With headline acts including Leftfield and Carl Cox set to attract large crowds, Stagecoach is highlighting the ease and affordability of travelling by bus, particularly for under 22s, who can access free travel across Scotland with a valid National Entitlement Card.
Frequent express services, including the X77, provide direct connections between Ayr, Glasgow and Kilmarnock, alongside a comprehensive network of local routes linking communities across Ayrshire. The festival site is located within easy walking distance of Ayr Bus Station, making it simple for customers to plan their journey from start to finish.
Customers can also travel with confidence when planning their journey home, with late evening services operating from Ayr across key routes. On Saturday, X77 services depart for Glasgow at 23:10 and 23:40, and for Kilmarnock at 23:40 and 00:10. On Sunday, services depart for Glasgow at 20:40 and 21:40, and for Kilmarnock at 21:40 and 23:10.
In addition to free travel for under 22s, a range of great-value tickets is available for other customers. DayRider tickets offer unlimited travel throughout the day, while Group tickets allow up to five people to travel together on a single ticket; ideal for friends heading to the festival.
Fraser Smith, Commercial Director for Stagecoach South Scotland, said:
“The Pavilion Festival is a brilliant event for Ayrshire, and we’re pleased to support customers travelling to and from the weekend using our regular services.
“Free bus travel for under 22s makes it even easier for young people to enjoy the festival safely and affordably, while our wider range of ticket options ensures there’s something for everyone.
“With frequent services and late evening journeys in place, the bus provides a simple, reliable and more sustainable way to travel; helping people focus on enjoying the event.”
Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and check their last journey times via the Stagecoach app or website to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip.
