Residents, commuters and visitors to Bristol and South Gloucestershire can look forward to a major transport boost, with Stagecoach West announcing a raft of new and exciting improvements to a number of its services, beginning Sunday 1st September 2024.
Service 71 which replaces the previous 3X route, will link Bristol Parkway, the Willow Brook Centre in Bradley Stoke and Aztec West with Redland, Clifton, the City Centre and Bristol Temple Meads. Responding to overwhelming demand, Stagecoach will operate additional buses during peak times, vastly improving connections for commuters travelling to and from Aztec West Business Park. Other general timetable changes have been scheduled to improve punctuality, with additional off-peak weekday journeys also included.
Other routes to benefit from updates and improvements, include:
Service 9 (Portway Park & Ride – Bristol city centre – Brislington Park & Ride) scheduling changes will improve punctuality.
Services 10 & 11 (Avonmouth – Southmead Hospital – Bristol Parkway) featuring a route extension to create new links beyond Southmead Hospital to and from Bristol Parkway (Monday to Saturday).
Service 12 (Severn Beach – Cribbs Causeway – Patchway – Bristol Parkway) which is popular with shoppers and leisure customers, has been improved between Asda, Cribbs Causeway and Rodway Road. From Sunday 1st September, all trips will take in this new route, with additional peak time trips also added to improve links between Aztec West Business Park, Bristol Parkway and areas of west Bristol.
Service 13 (Shirehampton – Sea Mills – Southmead Hospital – Bristol City Centre) has received a timetable upgrade which will improve punctuality and reliability.
Service 86 (Kingswood – Emersons Green – Ram Hill – Yate) - due to disruption caused by the closure of the Badminton Road Bridge over the M4, and following discussions with WECA, the 86 will no longer serve Kingswood’s Courtney View loop, with alternative operators already serving the area.
Service 525 (Emersons Green – Pucklechurch – Westerleigh – Yate) - buses will now serve North Yate and Ladden Garden Village on a clockwise hourly loop to improve punctuality and reliability following the closure of Badminton Road Bridge over the M4.
Service 505 (Long Ashton Park Ride – Clifton – Redland – Bishopston - Southmead hospital) – new stops have been added along Gloucester Road, Muller Road and Wellington Hill, and the timetable has been adjusted to improve reliability for customers.
Service 25 remains unchanged and we look forward to continuing to welcome customers on this popular route.
Service 462 (Emersons Green to Bristol city centre) will no longer run, due to declining passenger numbers.
Chris Hanson, Managing Director, Stagecoach West, says: “We’re constantly reviewing the needs of the communities we serve and travel patterns to react quickly when we see a need, so we’re delighted to introduce these new improvements to our services in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. These changes, improvements and additions will make life so much easier for daily commuters and leisure customers as well as expanding our services in the area, so we look forward to welcoming new and familiar faces on board.”
A West of England Mayoral Combined Authority spokesperson commented ‘We welcome the changes improving services for our residents’.
