Stagecoach West has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Bus Service’ category at this year’s National Transport Awards.
The company’s 94/94X route, providing frequent, express journeys between Cheltenham and Gloucester, is up for the top prize which will be announced in October.
Stagecoach, the UK’s largest bus and coach operator, has secured 13 nominations within six of the 16 categories at this year’s National Transport Awards. The awards celebrate the dedication, expertise, success and innovation of those working to continually enhance the transport networks across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Chris Hanson, Managing Director, Stagecoach West said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award. Stagecoach West has been providing local bus services in Gloucestershire for over 26 years with the 94/94X being one of our most popular, connecting Cheltenham and Gloucester, and a vital link for these communities.
The 94/94X has grown considerably with the faster 94X link proving particularly popular, meaning customers now enjoy a high frequency service and regular late-night journeys between Cheltenham and Gloucester. Overall, punctuality for both routes has improved by 12%. Increasing the frequency has provided customers with more choice at peak times, reducing the time spent at stops for customers to board. The company reviewed the time buses take to complete their journey; helping to provide a timetable customers can rely on; which has significantly increased customer satisfaction.
Chris Hanson continues: “To be recognised in this way pays testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams, who always go the extra mile to make sure we serve our communities as best we can. We look forward to celebrating with colleagues across the transport sector at the awards ceremony in October.”
The National Transport Awards are open to all bus operators and spotlight the dedication, expertise, success and innovation of those working to continually enhance the transport networks across the UK and Ireland. Winners will be announced at the UK National Transport Awards ceremony on 3rd October 2024 at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.
The event is supported by Transport Scotland, Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, Transport for Wales, Department for Infrastructure, Transport Focus, Intelligent Transport Systems UK and Urban Transport Group.
