STAGECOACH BUS SERVICES: UPDATED GUIDANCE FOR CUSTOMERS ON FARE PAYMENT

  • Cash payment in Yorkshire and Derbyshire is currently exact fare only which will end on 1 September
  • Passengers still urged to use contactless, mobile or other digital payment methods first
  • Company thanks customers for their support in keeping everyone safe
  • Customers have raised over £24,000 to be donated to NHS Charities Together

Stagecoach Yorkshire has today announced that it will return to giving out change to customers from 1 September on its bus services.

The temporary change of policy to only allowing exact fares in cash was brought in as a response to the Covid-19 situation. Any additional cash received as a result of not giving change is being donated to the NHS Charities Together Appeal, which supports NHS staff and workers, a current total to date of over £24,000.

Stagecoach is still asking customers to use contactless, mobile, pre-payment methods or have exact change for their fare wherever where possible but from 1 September will be giving out change where it’s needed.

Phil Medlicott, Managing Director, for Stagecoach Yorkshire said: “We would like to thank our customers for their help in keeping our drivers and their fellow passengers safe during this difficult time.

"Many customers have found it easy and convenient to pay for their journey using contactless or by mobile and we would encourage customers to continue to do so where possible.

"We are very proud of the incredible job all key workers, including our own drivers and support teams, have been doing as part of the national effort and are pleased that this money will be going to support those who have supported many others through this very difficult time.”
