Treat your mum without travelling miles this Mother’s Day!

Here in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, we’re blessed to have loads of wonderful Mother’s Day delights on our doorstep – so if you’re stuck for ideas to treat your Mamma, let us give you a little inspiration. Plan your journey easily online or download the App.

Afternoon Tea – Tiny sandwiches and tiny scones with a side of tea? What’s not to love? We all know nothing beats a good cuppa (except a good cuppa and a sandwich with the crusts off) – so why not hop on your local Stagecoach bus with Mum and discover some of these local delights:

Cocoa Wonderland – Ecclesall Road, Sheffield – A super intimate, super chocolaty extravaganza is on hand at Cocoa Wonderland. There’s chocolate in the sandwiches, there’s chocolate in the tea, there’s definitely chocolate in the brownies – chocolate everywhere! Just jump on the 83 or 88 to Ecclesall Road and you’re there.  

The Twisted Teapot – Park Road, Barnsley – Just hop on the 43 of 44 to this unique and quirky tea shop, just next to the beautiful Locke Park. Afternoon Tea and a stroll through the park, sounds good right?

Spa Treatments – Head massages and cucumber slice eye patches? Yes please! Treat your mum into a state of relaxation. Luckily these excellent options are close to the bus stop so she won’t have far to wander in her euphoric state …

Ringwood Hall Hotel – Hollingwood, Chesterfield – This place is beautiful! Their Garden Secret spa will make Mum forget all her worries and turn her into a smooth, nice smelling, relaxation goddess. Plus, with a bus stop right outside and buses into Chesterfield every 30 minutes on Mother’s Day, it’s a doddle to get to!

Mercure St Pauls Hotel & Spa – Sheffield Centre – From a swim in the pool to a drink in the bar, it doesn’t get much swankier than this place. Mum will feel like a million dollars – but you’ll get there cheap as chips because there are more buses than you can shake an incense stick at to get you to this lovely Spa. A day out for the family (or just for Mum, she might not want you there - sorry) – There are too many places in our local area to list for a great day out – but we’ll try anyway. If the whole family is going you can get to all of these places with the Family dayrider Gold!

Get to Leeds on the X10 from Barnsley for a great day out enjoying the shops (and maybe the bars?). If that’s not Mum’s cup of tea you can get out to Buxton on the 65 from Sheffield (this goes through loads of lovely places for a walk like Eyam, Stoney Middleton and Litton). Or maybe just hop on the X17 from Sheffield and Chesterfield to Matlock to feed the ducks and share a bag of chips!
