As the country prepares to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this summer, bus operator, Stagecoach Yorkshire, has unveiled a number of platinum jubilee themed buses to mark this unprecedented anniversary.

The buses, which can be seen around Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and Chesterfield, are sporting a striking silver and purple design to compliment Buckingham Palace’s official Jubilee Emblem.

The buses feature the official Platinum Jubilee emblem, and have been finished in a white, platinum and purple adaption of the Stagecoach livery scheme. The platinum colour represents Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne, whilst the purple colour is synonymous with royalty.

The platinum jubilee buses will be seen across the year, on services throughout South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.

Commercial Director for Stagecoach Yorkshire, John Young commented: “The whole nation and our commonwealth countries are gearing up for a big celebration in June and we felt that it was important for us to honour this historic milestone within the communities we serve.”

The buses were officially unveiled today at Wentworth Woodhouse, which played host to Her Majesty The Queen’s grandparents, King George V and Queen Mary, on their tour of Yorkshire back in 1912.

John Young said: “It feels fitting to come to Wentworth Woodhouse to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in the place where her predecessors came to celebrate Yorkshire. We have always been proud to serve our local communities, and we are proud to celebrate this historic moment with them too.”
