Bicycles (except folding bicycles), tricycles, motorbikes and e-scooters/e-bikes are strictly prohibited from being brought into or on any Supertram vehicle at any time.
Trams can become very busy with standing room only. Bicycles could only usually be accommodated around the low-level areas of the tram, around the doors. This area is intended for use by customers with reduced mobility alongside wheelchair, pushchair, and approved scooter users. Bicycles in these areas could cause an obstruction, preventing said users from safely accessing services and could prevent other customers from accessing or leaving the tram. Carriage of bicycles that limit access could also compromise the ability to evacuate the tram in an emergency.
There is also insufficient space or provision for bicycles to be secured to prevent them from moving. Due to the size, weight and sharp angles of bicycles, any movement could increase the risk of injury to passengers, particularly if sudden braking is required.
e-bikes and e-scooters are prohibited due to the risk of fire.
