At the wheel - Young bus fan gets a glimpse behind the scenes at local operator

A young bus enthusiast has enjoyed a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of how a modern bus network is run, to take local people where they need to go.

Bus fan, Iyzaac's Mum wrote in to Stagecoach’s Service Centre and Operations Manager, Carole Clarke, Lead Driver, Georgina Mackness, and Duty Manager, Richard Metcalfe and Anton Norman-Taylor, and the team at the Ecclesfield Depot, in Sheffield, swung into action to set up a special depot visit for him.

The tour showed Iyzaac all the different sections and modern technology that today’s bus network needs to operate – and even gave him the chance to sit behind of the wheel of a bus!

Carole said: “We were delighted to show Isaac around the full operations of Stagecoach Yorkshire - from Engineering to the day-to-day running of our fleet, but definitely one highlights was the chance to sit in the driver’s seat himself!

“It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm at such a young age. Hopefully, Iyzaac enjoyed his visit and maybe, in a few years’ time, we’ll be welcoming his application to join the team!”
