40 years rolling on - Jane encourages even more women to consider engineering as a career

To mark Women In Engineering Day, a local bus operator has shone a spotlight on the work done by one of the most dedicated members of its team.

Engineering Clerk, Jane Beever, has been with the operator for 40 years – a landmark passed this month.

Speaking at the anniversary, James Hudson, Engineering Manager, said: “I want to take a moment to celebrate this incredible achievement. I have had the pleasure of working alongside Jane for nearly 14 years, and, during that time, I have witnessed first-hand her dedication, professionalism, and passion for everything she does. Reaching 40 years of service is a remarkable testament to her commitment and hard work.

“On behalf of everyone at Stagecoach, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Jane and wish her all the very best as she reaches this extraordinary milestone.”

International Women in Engineering Day takes place annually on 23rd June. It was established by the Women's Engineering Society and aims to be part of a global campaign to celebrate female engineers, advocate for greater diversity in the field, and address the industry's gender gap.

Jane is always keen to encourage more women into the industry: “I don't know where the last 40 years have gone! Things have changed so much over the years. It's a pleasure most of the time, helping people get on with the work. Being part of a team is so satisfying, even better when the results go the right way. Time goes by so quickly and it is so varied. One day is never the same as another one.”
