Stagecoach achieves West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter

11 Mar 2026

Stagecoach Yorkshire has become the latest local business to become a member of the West Yorkshire Fair Work Charter.

Created by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin, the charter is a promise from local employers to review their working practices. It aims to foster a culture of fair work, understanding that secure and fulfilled employees lead to higher productivity, which benefits the West Yorkshire economy.

Membership gives access to a free learning and development portal, as well as an extensive library on a wide variety of subjects for the modern workplace and, which aims to make it even easier to further develop and embed fair work across the organisation.

Matt Kitchin, Managing Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “Reliable bus services are the backbone of a connected society – and the services rely on having an outstanding team of experts to run and maintain them.

“I am so proud of the work my team does – we are a major part of the Yorkshire economy, both as a major employer, and also by providing the freedom for our customers to access work, education, and healthcare while reducing congestion and carbon emissions.”

The move comes just days after Stagecoach was recognised for its consistently strong transparency on climate impact and sustainability by global environmental experts, CDP. In its latest accreditation, Stagecoach was awarded an ‘A-’ rating for climate change and ‘B’ for water security, maintaining the ratings for the second consecutive year. This is out of more than 22,100 companies that reported.

CDP applies a rigorous and independent methodology to evaluate disclosure quality, risk awareness, environmental management and evidence of best practice. Scores range from A to D-, reflecting the degree of ambition, target-setting and action.
