Peak Promise - Save on Travel to Hope Valley Art Trail This Weekend

25 Sep 2026

People attending the Hope Valley Art Trail By Rail this weekend, will be able to claim a discount on travel to the festival, under a new deal announced between Stagecoach and Hope Valley Climate Action, who are organising this event.

This Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, the Art Trail will spotlight the work of 40 artists participating across 13 venues between Chinley and Grindleford. Artists will be showcasing their work, providing demonstrations, and delivering workshops and activities. The event is to promote sustainable travel as much as it is to celebrate local creativity.

Stagecoach has now agreed that visitors using its Peak Sightseer service, on Saturday, will be able to show their event sticker or online ticket to receive a concessionary day rate of £9.50, reduced from the £14 full fare. There are also 10% discounts available at various local cafes and restaurants in the area.

Other bus routes to get to the festival include Service 272/271, connecting Sheffield to Castleton and serving Hathersage, Bamford and Hope; Service 65, which serves Grindleford from Sheffield and Tideswell; and Service 62, which runs from Buxton to Castleton via Chapel-en-le-frith and Edale.

Emily Gait, founder of the Art Trail by Rail and community engagement lead at Hope Valley Climate Action, said: "We're very grateful to Stagecoach for partnering with us on this event. We hope it inspires both residents and visitors to keep choosing sustainable travel beyond the festival weekend”

John Young, Commercial Director of Stagecoach in Derbyshire, added: “The Art Trail By Rail is a wonderful festival that highlights the brilliant artists who live and work in the area, so we wanted to do our part to make it even easier for people to attend. What better way to enjoy the festival than to get there on an open-top bus ride though the beautiful Peak District?”

The Peak Sightseer open-top bus season runs each Saturday until 10 October. Red Route buses travel one way in a loop with stops including Chatsworth House, Hassop Station for the Monsal Trail, Bakewell, and Ashford in the Water. Meanwhile, Blue Route stops include Chatsworth House, Longshaw Lodge for Padley Gorge and the Longshaw Estate, Castleton for Peveril Castle and the breathtaking views of Winnats Pass, and Blue John Cavern for Mam Tor.
