To help you travel with confidence, we’re doing all we can for the safety and wellbeing of our customers and employees. That’s why we’re encouraging all customers to pay with contactless payment where possible. You can pay by contactless with your card or device on all our buses. Please do pay contactless if you can.

What is contactless?

Contactless is the fast, easy and secure way to pay for transactions under £45 depending on your area. All you need is a contactless-enabled card or mobile with Apple Pay or Google Pay installed and ready to use.

Why you’ll love contactless

No cash? No problem! With contactless you don’t need to worry about finding change to pay for your bus ticket.
Pay quickly – it takes under a second for a contactless payment to register
It’s secure – contactless payments have the same level of protection as Chip and Pin payments.

Look for the contactless symbol on your credit or debit card to see if your card is contactless enabled.

Then, board a bus with the contactless symbol and instead of paying with cash, simply tap your card or contactless-enabled device onto the reader and wait for the beep.

Can you pay by contactless on Stagecoach buses?

Contactless is now available on all our buses outside of London.

Can I pay part cash part contactless on the bus?

You are unable to pay part cash part contactless on board the bus.

Which contactless cards can I use?

Contactless payment cards issued for Visa, Mastercard and Maestro can be used. Pre-paid contactless payment cards can be used but please make sure they have enough credit on them before boarding. Payments can also be made using Apple Pay and Google Pay. We’re unable to accept payments by Amercian Express.

Can you use Apple Pay on the bus?

Yes, you can use Apple Pay on our Stagecoach buses and also use Android pay to make purchases.

Which tickets can I buy with contactless?

You can buy any tickets up to the value of £30 including single, return, dayrider and megariders on both paper and StagecoachSmart.

Is my contactless payment safe?

All our equipment is tested and certified to comply with strict card scheme standards. Contactless payment cards are safe and secure, and have the same level of protection as Chip & PIN payments, so you can feel confident when using one to pay for travel.
