Service disruption - Industrial action

Service disruption due to industrial action

Due to the ongoing pay dispute, Unite the Union has informed us of their intention to carry out further industrial action. This will be Monday 18th August and Thursday 21st August.

The industrial action relates to driver pay for our employees based at depots in Walkergate and Slatyford, Newcastle upon Tyne. Regrettably, this action will disrupt our services and cause inconvenience to our customers. As we play a vital role in helping people stay connected with their communities, we’re doing everything we can to operate a limited service using the drivers available to us

We understand that this news may be unsettling for the communities we serve, and we want to reassure you that we’re here to keep you informed and supported every step of the way during this challenging time.

We’re truly sorry for the disruption and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this together. Thank you for bearing with us.

Travelling in Newcastle on a day of industrial action? Here's what you need to know:

We understand how important it is for you to have up-to-date information, and we’re doing everything we can to keep you informed as quickly as possible.

To help keep communities connected, we’re working with drivers from other operating companies to run as many services as we can. While this isn’t an ideal situation, please know that we’re doing our very best to maintain essential connections for those who rely on us.

As soon as our limited services are confirmed, we’ll share updates on our Service Updates page at stagecoachbus.com/service-updates. If you haven’t already, please sign up for email alerts to stay informed about your journey.

Fares:

On the affected dates, all adult single fares will be £2.00. Although single fares and DayRiders will be sold on bus, MegaRiders will only be accepted for travel and will not be sold by drivers. Customers wishing to buy MegaRiders are advised to purchase from the Stagecoach mobile app.

What happens on days when there’s no industrial action?

If there are any delays or cancellations to your journey, we’ll keep you updated on X (formerly Twitter) @StagecoachNE and through our app.
