As part of Folkestone and Hythe District Council's 'A Brighter Future Project', Folkestone bus station will be remodelled into a new 'Green Heart' for the town.

The Folkestone 'A Brighter Future' Project' is a government-funded regeneration project aimed at establishing a sustainable and vibrant future for Folkestone town centre. You can find out more about the project here.

Following extensive public engagement, Folkestone and Hythe District Council settled on three priority projects to improve the town for residents and visitors alike. One of these priority projects is the Green Heart Plan which involves transforming the bus station in Bouverie Square into a community park. The council hopes the area will be used for events as well as serving as a welcoming outdoor space with benches, gardens, and accessible walkways.

We have been working closely with the council to ensure a smooth transition to the new site; access to buses is a critical factor in the redevelopment scheme and for the future of the town.

The final day of operations at Folkestone bus station will be the 20th September. To replace the current set-up, Folkestone and Hythe District Council are creating a new linear bus station along Middelburg Square, providing an inviting, pedestrian-friendly transport hub. We hope to keep service disruption to a minimum so temporary bus stops will be set up while this work is being completed. We will provide further updates as work on the transport hub progresses and the permanent bus stops become available.
