1 Royal Oak

This historic 1800s roadside, thatched, multi-room pub is on the B3183 through Heavitree, close to two public car parks. A relaxing snug is on the right after entering via an original Dartmoor Prison door and a tack from the last heavy horse from the prison is above the welcoming fireplace. The public bar to the left leads to several roomy areas. Outside there are front and rear courtyard seated areas. Real cider is available, Devon Red (Keg). Bar snacks are available.

The Pig and Pickle is an independent free house and micropub serving a range of mostly local beers on keg and cask. There are three handpumps, one of which serves traditional cider, two serve real ale. All three are constantly changing. Food is English tapas, pork pie, scotch egg and snacks.

4  Black Horse Inn

Large roadhouse type pub with emphasis on food. Situated just out of the village, and close to the A30 with plenty of car parking.

5 Cranberry Farm

New pub serving Cranbrook new town. Serving a range of Hall & Woodhouse regular ales plus seasonals. Interior features lots of history of Hall & Woodhouse. Main dining area features a high vaulted barn structure. Very dog friendly, with an outside cask to dispense water for your pet.

6 Jack in the Green

This pub, situated on the old A30, is very food orientated, and is very popular for its fine dining. It has a conference room, and is used a lot for business meetings. Other functions, such as wedding receptions, birthdays etc. are catered for. Two real ales are usually on offer, and you are more than welcome to visit just for a drink. Doors open at 10am, but alcohol is not served until noon. Up to three real ciders are available.

7 New Fountain Inn

A genuine free house, that was converted from cottages in around 1890. This pub has changed little over the years, although modern toilets were added in a tasteful extension to one of the bars in 2009. The other has many original features including a real fire in winter.

8 Thirsty Farmer

The Thirsty Farmer is located in the centre of the village, and is a traditional, welcoming, village inn. One real ale on a changing basis is usually available from the large open bar area and good-value food is on offer. Free WiFi is available, and there is a large car park and outside seating.

9 Volunteer Inn

The pub has been part of Ottery St Mary’s history since 1810 when it opened as a dwelling, hostelry and recruitment centre for the Napoleonic War. It was first registered as the Volunteer Inn in 1831. This family-friendly lively pub is located in the centre of the town; it is very popular with a broad clientele. Front bar has been kept traditional and rear bar is a more modern restaurant. All real ales, mainly sourced from local breweries, are served by gravity. Real cider available (Sandford Orchards). Good-value pub food is served seven days a week, including a traditional Sunday roast, in the recently extensively refurbished and extended restaurant.

10 Kings Arms

This friendly Grade II listed locals pub supports many pub games, including, darts, pool, crib and skittles. The guest beer mainly comes from a Devon brewery. There is Sky and BT sports which can be mixed and matched over three TV screens. There is also juke box.

A 17-century coaching inn, which is located close to the historic 14th-century parish church and is a friendly locals pub. There are two separate bars offering four changing real ales sourced from breweries near and far with a good range of styles and strengths all at the same price. There is a pool room, function room and live music regularly promoted.

12 Star

A former town pub that has been tastefully renovated and re-opened by J D Wetherspoon on 30th July 2013. Three regular real ales are usually available, along with two guests, sometimes more, plus real cider. Good-value food is served all day. This is a welcome addition to the town. It is one of the oldest licensed places in Honiton

13 Three Tuns

Situated in the middle of the High Street, this is the oldest pub in Honiton dating back to 1774. It was a stopping off point for stagecoaches on the way to and from Exeter. The pub underwent an extensive refurbishment around 2013. Good-value home-cooked food is served lunchtimes and three real ales (two regular and one guest) are usually available. Families are welcome, and well-behaved dogs are allowed. Opens at 9am for breakfast but doesn't serve alcohol until 10am.

14 Volunteer

The Volunteer is located on the High Street at the bottom end of the town. There is an outside courtyard area which extends into a garden. Two real ales are usually served!

15 White Hart

A traditional partly thatched Devon pub, which was completely rebuilt in 2004 after the thatch caught light, destroying the pub. There is a well laid out bar and restaurant, that offers freshly cooked food. There are 3 refurbished letting rooms, and a skittle alley. A selection of events run throughout the year.

16 New Inn

Thatched Devon longhouse that became a pub in the early 1800s. It was rebuilt after a major fire in 2004, retaining a welcoming atmosphere and gaining excellent toilets with disabled access. There is a large, safe garden, and a well-used skittle alley. A quiz night is held monthly on the first Sunday, with other events that maintain the pub's position as an important part of village life.

17 Old Inn

Thatched 16th-century inn on the A35. The Cricketers' bar, a lounge with a log fire, and a restaurant area are complemented by a suntrap patio and a raised lawn. Food, served lunchtimes and evenings (Sunday lunchtime only), is sourced locally, including good mussels, and the many specials are changed daily. Beer festivals are held at the end of May, in August, on bonfire night in November, and there are regular themed nights. The pub opens at 8am for breakfast (from 11am for drinks). May close earlier on Sundays in winter.

18 Ale Way

The Ale Way micropub stocks a continually changing line of independent real ales, fresh craft beers and delicious ciders - many of which are locally brewed. You'll also find a variety of specialist cans and bottles from various destinations. A small selection of soft drinks, red and white wine and a house gin is available for those not yet a fan of beer.​ Although a wet led establishment there are occasional team-ups with local restaurants for an on site, dine-in experience.

Housed in part of the station building the seating inside is on two floors with the majority being on the first floor. The bar can be found in a snug on the ground floor. The rooms have been tastefully renovated to preserve a railway feel. There is in addition some outside tables overlooking the platform where you can watch the trains.

19  Axminster Inn

The Axminster Inn is a friendly traditional pub, lying just off the town centre, with a real log fire for the winter months, and a lovely enclosed beer garden to enjoy in the warmer weather. It is a Palmers house, offering a good range of their real ales and ciders. Live music is featured, including Local Bands, Solo Artists, and Country & Folk (see website). 20 Castle Inn

Reopened and redecorated in May 2021 by Paul and Sharon, this old fashioned looking public house is full of surprises and has plenty to offer its patrons.

A traditional drinking bar offers live sports, live music, board games and a warm welcome, and a restaurant area seats 14-16 people with a relaxed lamp and mirror decor.

There is also a large garden, newly decorated in 2022, with smoking and non smoking areas.

The Castle offers lots of individuality throughout the building, with local crafts, arts and quirky touches like its Charity Wall and King and Queen.

Food is all home cooked on site with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available.

The bar and garden are dog friendly, with children also welcome when eating with families.

21 Lamb Inn

Traditional local half a mile from the town centre. The single room interior has a comfortable bar area for dining and playing pool, plus a large-screen TV that often shows sports. There is a spacious garden with two boule pistes, and a heated smokers' shelter. The landlady's pub fare is very good and exceptional value for money. Now enhanced with a lovely new restaurant overlooking the scenic Axe Vale; food served 12-3 and 6-9pm. No dogs please because the resident dog gets very jealous.
