1 Old Fire House

Popular city center pub entered via a courtyard and spread over three floors. Over the years the number of real ales stocked has fallen and the number of ciders has risen. Real ales are served on gravity and are generally sourced locally; while the ciders, of which there are normally ten available, are sourced more widely. Pizza is the main food (14" square and essentially for sharing) while on a Sunday lunchtime a traditional roast is served. Monday evening from 8pm for the quiz; Live music every Friday and Saturday from 10pm. The pub is close to Exeter High Street bus stops and Central railway station. No children under ten allowed, due to licence restrictions and over 18's only after 5pm. Card payment only.

2 Farmers Union

The pub is situated near the Clock Tower and has mixed clientele. The food side is unusual as it has a Vegan and Vegetarian Menu alongside the standard one. There is a Quiz night on Thursdays and on Sunday a Carvery 12 - 15. Other than Sunday Carvery time, the pub is Dog Friendly.

3  Imperial

This is a large J D Wetherspoon pub close to the university, Central and St David's railway stations, with buses passing close by. Built in 1810 as Elmfield House, it was converted into the Imperial Hotel in 1923, and remained a hotel until 1994. It opened as a Wetherspoon's in February 1996, and its attractive architecture and orangery, which was added by Dr William Buller Henderson, who purchased the property in 1897, is still there to be enjoyed. The large garden offers plenty of tables and seating to enjoy in the fine weather. Ten real ales are usually available, including Abbot and Ruddles; guest ales often come from local breweries. Real cider is available but not all boxed ciders / perries here conform to CAMRA's real cider / perry definition. Good-value food is served all day until 11pm, and families are welcome. The pub is well frequented by the local student population. A function room is available for meetings etc. Wetherspoon's beer and cider festivals are regularly held, including some showcasing local breweries.

4 Belluno Italian Restaurant

Formerly the Crown And Sceptre Inn, rebuild in 1964 following the disastrous fire in 1962 of the original thatched pub, on almost the same site. Floored with Rhodesian teak to resist stiletto heels and with natural oak and elm beams throughout.

Authentic Italian food freshly prepared and cooked in their highly visible kitchen. All food is sourced locally. Takeaway and delivery available. The outdoor garden area has umbrellas, tables and canopies and a children's play area, enhanced by a fenced pen for chickens and a pair of peacocks.

5  Beer Engine

Victorian pub, built in 1850 on the Exeter to Barnstaple Tarka Line. Popular with drinkers and diners alike, it is well-frequented by locals, visitors and their cricket team. A destination pub for home-cooked food made with locally sourced produce. Part of the downstairs area, previously used for storage, has been converted into a second bar to accommodate sports fans and to serve those in the large, covered area between the pub and the railway line. The downstairs bar also allows views of the brewery.

The pub brews its own ales and five are usually available, including two regulars and three seasonal ales which, like the village pictures and old pub signs, reflect a railway theme. Real cider (Sandford Orchards) available in keg & bottles.

6 Red Deer

A Marston's house, newly built in 2011 and located by Tesco's on the edge of Crediton. It is a food (available all day) led pub with three handpumps in use. One regular ale plus two guests, with one normally being light, and one darker, from the Marston's range.

7 Crediton Inn

The framed indenture date this inn to 1878, with windows etched with the ancient town seal. It is a genuine free house serving two to four real ales and a local cider. The skittle alley doubles as a function room. No food except bar snacks such as crisps and nuts. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Opening times may vary, please phone to check. 8 Ship Hotel

The pub has three levels. Downstairs is a cellar bar with darts and free pool. At ground level is a newly renovated bar and upstairs is a dining room. Number five bus passes the door. One or two cask ales are available. Fridays and Saturdays sometimes see a 'pop-up' restaurant from guest caterers.

9 General Sir Redvers Buller

Named after Crediton's most celebrated son of modern time whose distinguished military career included campaigns in the Sudan and the Boer War.
This old house has a fine entrance which leads to a single long bar along one side of the pub and several levels of drinking areas with a variety of furniture. Further up at the back is an extensive beer garden which is a sun trap in the afternoon.

10 Duke of York

A one bar, Grade II listed pub at the top of the high street, a family-run free house since 2002, which has one regular beer and one or two changing beers on offer mainly from different breweries, depending on demand. It has Sky, BT and Amazon sports which can be shown on three screens. Mens and womens darts teams play here, and there is a south facing garden. The number five bus passes the door. Purchases under £5 are cash only.

11 White Hart Hotel

A 16th-century coaching inn with stone flagstones and wooden panels surrounded by wood beams throughout, and a roaring log fire giving a warm welcome to visitors. It is popular with locals and the village football and pool teams. There is a large garden and an annual firework display. Well-behaved dogs and children are welcome. Quiz and curry night is every third Thursday and Irish folk music takes place the first Wednesday of the month. Every last bank holiday in August, the last Saturday and Sunday the popular ale and cider festival takes place with live music and entertainment on both days. lots of other events are regularly featured. 12 Devonshire Dumpling

Roadside pub on the main road (A377) between Exeter and Barnstaple, offering good value food, using local produce where possible, served lunchtimes and evenings, plus popular Sunday roast. Accommodation is available in two double bedrooms and a family room, all en-suite. Dogs are welcome but only in the beer garden. The station is only a short walk away, beware, it is a request stop. Will close earlier in the evenings once diners have departed.

13 Old Malt Scoop Inn

The Old Malt Scoop is located in the village centre, and is an old coaching inn dating back to the 16-century. There are now four pumps at the bar, three are usually LocAle beers. The pub serves good-quality home-cooked food, including traditional Sunday roast. Food is served lunch time and evenings. Occasional live music events. The pub is family and dog friendly.
