If you’re making a short trip single journeys are £3 or less. Wirksworth, Cromford, Matlock Bath, Matlock, Kelstedge, Walton, Chesterfield, Whittington Moor, Meadowhead, Woodseats, Heeley, Sheffield, Meadowhall, Birdwell, Worsbrough, and Barnsley.

It’s a useful route if you want to travel by bus between Sheffield, Chesterfield, and Matlock, or reach the Peak District area without a car.

How often does the X17 bus run?

The X17 bus typically runs every 30 minutes on most parts of the route.
Frequency can vary depending on the day (weekday, Saturday, or Sunday), so it’s best to check the timetable here, before you travel.

From Monday to Friday, the first journey from Chesterfield Coach Station to Barnsley starts at 5:17am. The last journey from Matlock Bus Station departs at 23:15pm towards Chesterfield.

On a Saturday, the first journey from Barnsley towards Wirksworth starts at 7:13am. The last journey from Sheffield Interchange to Chesterfield departs at 23:30pm.

They allow unlimited travel within that area for the duration of the ticket, so you can get on and off buses as often as you like, and easily transfer between different Stagecoach services without needing to buy additional tickets.
