What happens if my contactless card is declined?

Unfortunately, if your card is declined you can't use it on our buses for 45 days. That's because the card will be blocked within Stagecoach.

If this happens three times, your card will be permanently blocked for use with Stagecoach. We're sorry but it's to stop anyone from using your card fraudulently 

Don't hesitate to contact us if your card doesn't work on our buses. You can get the details of the declined transaction then request more details from your bank to understand why it failed. 

You can also contact Stagecoach to clear any restrictions on the card. We'll release the card from Stagecoach’s deny list once we've reviewed the request. This can take up to seven days. We hope this doesn't cause you any inconvenience.

Don't worry if your card has been blocked by our buses though. You can use the Stagecoach Bus App to buy some tickets instead (except for single tickets).
