C.H.O.M.P is supported as Stagecoach makes new 'neighbourly' grant

• Grant helps in goal of securing core food supplies
• Helping alleviate hunger and food waste
• Parcels delivered across Birchwood and Lincoln

Stagecoach, the parent of major local bus operator, Stagecoach East Midlands, has supported a local community organisation, in Lincolnshire, which aims to help local people meet their essential food needs, as part of a scheme to distribute community grants across the UK.

Stagecoach has given a grant of £500 to C.H.O.M.P., an independent charity that collects donations, redistributes surplus food, prepares and delivers food parcels to those in need, runs free community events and supports families in need, helping improve overall wellbeing across Birchwood and Lincoln.

Last year, C.H.O.M.P. donated 33,836 meals and 726 food parcels, meaning that its 26 volunteers supported over 900 households to get the food they need. In addition, their work meant that 25,967kg of carbon dioxide was saved from having to be sent to landfill.

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “We are so proud to support organisations that are making a real, tangible difference to people's lives. Giving back to the communities we serve is at the heart of what we do, and it is inspiring to see the incredible work that is being done by C.H.O.M.P.

As a volunteer-led organisation supporting families across Birchwood and the wider Lincoln area, funding like this allows us to continue providing food parcels to those experiencing hardship and to deliver inclusive community events such as our free Winter Wonderland. That event brought families together in a safe, welcoming space at a time when many were struggling, and this support helps us continue building a stronger, more connected community.”
