How to apply for a bus pass for a student

You will need a current student ID card with a photo to buy a Stagecoach student pass.

The name on your ID card will need to match the name on your student bus pass. You can use it at any time to travel within your chosen ticket zone and make the most of the student travel discounts.

What discount can I get on student travel with Stagecoach?

We offer a range of student passes which provide great savings compared with standard tickets. What’s even better, once you have your ticket loaded onto your StagecoachSmart student card, unlimited travel is at your fingertips. So, you only need to worry about having enough money for cheesy chips on the way home on a Saturday night.  By getting your Stagecoach student pass in advance you can also pay once and never worry about having change for the bus again.

How much does a student travel card cost?

We offer a range of different student travel options depending on your area and how long you want to travel for. You can search your area to find specific ticket options and costs.

How do use my student travel card?

Many of our student tickets are now smart. Simply tap your student smart card onto the reader when you board the bus. Just remember that you'll be required to show student ID. For paper tickets, show your bus pass along with your student ID to the driver when you board.

Can I buy a student bus pass for the whole year?

In certain areas you can purchase an annual student bus pass. You just need to search your area to see all the available options.

Can I use my student pass in other places?

You can only use your student bus pass in the area that is specified on your tickets terms and conditions.

Can I buy an apprentice travel card?

In some locations, yes. Take a look at our apprentice and student supertram pass if you are based in Sheffield.

My StagecoachSmart student card hasn’t arrived – who do I contact?

Give our StagecoachSmart customer services team a call on 0345 810 1000 or email [email protected] and they’ll help you out.

Do I need student ID to use my bus pass?

Yes, you need a valid student ID to buy and use your student pass. This must include a photo and valid dates.
