Major local bus operator, Stagecoach East Midlands, has encouraged charities and community groups across the region to apply for support through its ongoing Community Grants programme.
The grants form part of Stagecoach’s wider sustainability work and are overseen by its charity committee, Stagecoach – Giving for Good, which helps decide where support can make the biggest difference locally. Funding is focused on four areas:
- Health and wellbeing
- Young people, skills and employment
- Loneliness and social isolation
- Accessibility and opportunity
As well as working with national charities, Stagecoach East Midlands is keen to support smaller, local organisations. A monthly fund is available to provide one-off grants to local charities and community projects that need help.
Charities and community groups can apply online. Applications are reviewed on the first Wednesday of each month and must be submitted before the last Friday of the previous month to be considered.
Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: " If you’re a local good cause working in one of the communities we serve, particularly supporting children, young people or health and wellbeing, we would really encourage you to apply. We are able to offer grants of up to £500, and, for many smaller organisations, that funding can make a genuine difference. We know how much difference these small grants make to local organisations and are always looking to encourage people to get in touch”
Stagecoach East Midlands has a history of supporting local charities. Recently it donated £3203.49, collected from across its entire operation, to local branches of Age UK.

About Stagecoach
Founded in 1980, Stagecoach is the UK’s largest bus and coach operator, with a fleet of 8,300 vehicles connecting over 100 major towns and cities across England, Scotland, and Wales.
With 25,000 people in our team, we’re deeply rooted in the communities we serve. We know how important it is to stay connected to the people and places that matter – and we’re proud to play our part in helping make everyday journey simpler, greener and more reliable.
It’s all part of our promise: we’ve got you.
We work closely with partners to support greener, smarter, and more inclusive transport – helping reduce congestion, cut emissions and boost local economies. More than 15% of our 8,300-strong fleet is now electric, and that number continues to grow as we invest in cleaner, more sustainable travel.
As part of our sustainability strategy, we’ve committed to supporting local communities by donating up to 0.5% of profit before tax each year to charitable causes across the UK.
