Sunday 9th February is one of the most important dates in our calendar and since you’ve already seen the title of this blog, you can probably guess what that day is… National Pizza Day is a day for pizza lovers across the country to head out and enjoy a tasty treat, so we’ve put together some places you could go to enjoy a delicious pizza AND how you can get the bus there and back! Happy Pizza-ing!
- Casa Mia – Dunfermline
Casa Mia is an Italian Restaurant on Nethertown Broad Street in Dunfermline, just a 10-minute walk from Dunfermline bus station. Even better, our Dunfermline town services 1 and 2 stop right next door! Casa Mia is a family run restaurant with a true passion for authentic Italian cuisine, offering true Italian pizzas. With the name of the restaurant meaning “my home” in Italian, it’s the perfect place to feel at home whilst you enjoy a slice – we recommend the Pepperoni!
- Broth3rs Restaurant – Perth
Broth3rs Restaurant offers a traditional experience, where they believe in Pizza – and have a great range of different pizzas on offer - one of each for this writer! Centrally located on George Street in Perth, Broth3rs is just off the high street and a 15-minute walk away from Perth bus station or an even shorter walk from our local services to George Street.
- NYPD New York Pizza – Dundee
NYPD – New York Pizza Dundee is a place where passion meets taste. Their pizzas have crispy thin bases and delicious toppings, and they offer different regional styles that add to the rich world of pizza! And if pizzas aren’t your thing (?!), they also offer some other tasty Italian treats, such as their Chicken Parm Sandwich. NYPD is located on Perth Street in Dundee with services 39 and 73 stopping just outside the restaurant.
- Little Italy – St Andrews
Little Italy is nestled in the heart of St Andrews and is a family-run Italian restaurant who take pride in bringing the authentic flavours of Italia to your table. They offer 11 different pizza options (we’ll take a slice of each 😉), in addition to many other Italian cuisine options. Little Italy is located on Logies Lane, just off Market Street where our services 90, 91 and 95 stop. Coming from further afield? No worries as Little Italy is only a 6-minute walk from St Andrews bus station.
- Italia Nostra – Stirling
Italia Nostra, an Italian restaurant in the centre of Stirling is just a short walk from Stirling Castle so is perfect to grab something to eat while having a day out. Our X22 service will get you from Fife to Stirling bus station, just a 10-minute walk from a slice of heaven, or if you’re heading from the north, service 15 will get you from Perth to Stirling via Crieff and Dunblane.

- Azzurro Restaurant Pizzeria – Arbroath
Fed up with smokies and fancy a slice of fun in Arbroath? Azzurro Restaurant Pizzeria is on Arbroath High Street and is serving up authentic Italian pizzas. A wee 10-minute walk away from the bus station makes it a good place to grab something to eat before taking in a show at the Webster Theatre or while taking a wee break when shopping.
- Civerinos – Edinburgh
Who doesn’t love a nice day out in the capital? Whether you’re shopping, going to see a show or just being a tourist for the day, stopping for a slice of pizza is ALWAYS a good idea. Civerinos, located on Hunter Square, offer up a range of traditional pizzas and some that might make you wonder if it will work! My personal fave on the pizza menu is the Hot Dog & Fries Pizza, interesting right?! Our Express services get you to and from the capital quickly and comfortably, and with DayReturn tickets from only £6.50 available on the Stagecoach Bus App, it’s a no-brainer.
- Giovanni’s – Kirkcaldy
Giovanni’s, located on Dunnikier Road in Kirkcaldy, offers lots of traditional Italian pizza options and other Italian delights. Having been a Kirkcaldy staple for over 30 years, it’s a classic choice when it comes to a fab meal out. Our X58 Express service between St Andrews and Edinburgh stops nearby Giovanni’s, or it’s just a short walk away from the bus stops at Kirkcaldy rail station.

- Nonnina’s Kitchen – Alyth
Nonnina’s Kitchen is nested in the charming old Barony Church in Alyth and serves pizzas as well as breakfasts and lunches. They use the freshest ingredients and guests can enjoy their pizzas with a freshly brewed coffee or a slice of homemade cake! They are also dog-friendly, so your pup pal can come along too. Nonnina’s’ Kitchen can be reached with our service 57 stopping on Market Square, just a short walk away from the restaurant.
- Fired Dough Pizza – Edinburgh
Back to the capital we go for our final entry! Fired Dough Pizza, located on Lothian Road, is just a short walk away from Edinburgh Bus Station. They offer Neapolitan-style dough, which is carefully handmade and left for 24 to 48 hours before their pizzas are made with fresh ingredients and unforgettable taste. The Pollo Vulcano which is a choice of BBQ or San Marzana tomato base, Fior di Latte Mozzarella, spicy Tandoori Chicken and chilli flakes would be my choice! Fired Dough is the perfect lunch or dinner spot if you’re having a day out in Edinburgh.
And that’s our whistle stop tour of where you can get a pizza by bus across East Scotland. Let us know if you’ve decided to visit one of the restaurants we’ve showcased or if you’ve gone somewhere different. We hope you enjoy a tasty slice of pizza on National Pizza Day.
