Oldham Stagecoach Inspector Collects Over 500 Eggs for Children at Easter

15 Apr 2025

Children at Tameside General Hospital and three local charities will be enjoying an Easter Egg this week, thanks to the efforts of local Stagecoach Inspector Christopher Liddle, part of the Operations Support Team at the Bee Network in Oldham.

The Easter Eggs were donated by Stagecoach employees at the Oldham Depot, and  customers at four local Tesco stores in Failsworth, Stalybridge, Gorton, and Greenfield, who Chris arranged collections. Additionally, Stagecoach employees at Oldham raised £375 in an Easter raffle for Springhill Hospice in Rochdale.

The three local charities Springhill Hospice, Macmillan, and Newlife, receive their eggs on Friday 11th April and eggs were delivered to Tameside General Hospital, in a specially decorated Stagecoach bus.

Christopher Liddle, Inspector at Oldham Stagecoach, said: “To be able to bring some cheer to children in Hospital over the Easter holidays is incredibly important to me. I would like to thank my colleagues at Oldham and the customers from Tesco for their generosity.”

Rob Jones, MD at Stagecoach Manchester said: "All children deserve an Easter Egg at Easter, especially those who may be away from home over the long weekend.”
“I’m really proud of Christopher for all his hard work and all our team at Oldham for their generous donations to support the local community which we serve as part of the Bee Network.”

Liz Moore, Charity Champion at the Tesco Gorton store said “Tesco is very happy to support Stagecoach with a trolley at front of store for donations of Easter Eggs, books and toys donated by our customers and colleagues. Chris does a great job organising these events and we look forward to helping on the Christmas bus.”

Vicki Barnett, Corporate and Partnerships Fundraiser at Springhill Hospice said “We were thrilled to receive a donation from Stagecoach’s raffle as it will help fund our services but for me the Easter Eggs we were given are just as important. It means patients can be made to feel a little bit special with an egg of their own or one to share with their loved ones, and any way we can help create some special moments for them is always hugely appreciated. The little things can often make the biggest difference.”
