Stagecoach Manchester and Merseyside Unite for Charity Football Match and Family Fun Day

• Stagecoach Manchester and Merseyside colleagues will go head-to-head at Chorley FC next month to raise funds for Scotty’s | The Military Bereavement Charity.

• Entry costs £3 for adults and £2 for children under 16, with donations and fundraising supporting Scotty’s

Stagecoach colleagues from Manchester and Merseyside will swap the bus depot for the football pitch next month when they come together for a charity match and family fun day at Chorley FC.

The Stagecoach Bus Charity Football Match will take place at Victory Park Stadium on Sunday 11th October, with gates opening at 1pm ahead of a 3pmkick-off.

The event has been organised by David Vosper, Assistant Engineering Manager at Stagecoach Merseyside, and will raise funds for Scotty’s | The Military Bereavement Charity, which supports children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.

David said: “What started as an idea for a football match between our Manchester and Merseyside teams has grown into a fantastic family fun day supporting Scotty’s.
“We’re proud to be raising money for such a worthwhile cause and hope colleagues, supporters and people from across the local community will join us for what promises to be a great day. “There’ll be plenty happening away from the football pitch too, so it’s a chance for everyone to come together, have some fun and help make a real difference.”

The family-friendly event will include a range of military and community activities, with visitors able to see military vehicles and the Poppy Bus, alongside a military and cadet presence and Armed Forces recruitment and engagement stands.

There will also be food and drink, family entertainment and opportunities to support Scotty’s through donations, sponsorship and fundraising.

The match will see Stagecoach teams from Manchester and Merseyside compete for local bragging rights, while colleagues, veterans’ groups, military supporters and local families come together to support a shared cause.

Admission has been kept affordable, costing £3 for adults and £2 for children under 16.
