Summer must haves

06 Jul 2021

Fire pit with large flameHow is it July already!? It feels like were just talking about Christmas plans, and now we're halfway through the year! Before the summer runs away from us, we want to make sure we slow down and enjoy it. Here are some summer must-haves to get that summer feeling...even if it's in your own back garden.

We need to take advantage of the mild, light starry nights we get in summer and the best way to do this is an outdoor fire pit. It’ll give you the perfect glowing summer night for making s’mores and stargazing in your own back garden.

For hours of fun, get yourself a spike ball kit! This volleyball-inspired game is made up of a compact hula-hoop-sized net with folding legs making it easy to transport to a park or beach! Not sure of the rules? Just kick-off the game by bouncing a ball off the net and flying it towards your opponents. Like volleyball you’ve got three passes to send the ball back over. If they miss, you score, and the first to get to 21 points wins! Nothing gets more heated than a competitive family, so play with caution!
garden lights and leaves

Turn your garden into this summer’s most Instagrammable hotspot. String fairy lights across your decking or hang them from your trees or, go wild and add some bunting or tiki torches! Your outdoor space will be so cosy you’ll want the evenings to go on forever.

There’s nothing like spending a hot summer’s day in a swimming pool. This summer may be a little different when it comes to accessing community swimming pools or splash parks. If you find they’re closed, don’t worry! You can buy your very own inflatable pool - something all ages will love... even the dog! Kit it out with fun, inflatable floats for the kids or even inflatable drink holders for your beverage of choice. Don’t forget a waterproof speaker so you can listen to summer tunes without having to worry about a technical disaster!

five cocktail glasses with different cocktails

Nothing says summer like drinking a cocktail in the sun. Bring this experience straight to your own home with a cocktail kit. Discover your inner mixologist and experiment with martinis, mai tais and mojitos...or something of your own creation!

If you manage to jump on a flight to a green list country or are heading off on a staycation, make sure you have all the travel accessories you’ll need. No matter how long or short your journey is, a travel pillow will never go a miss. Comfort is key!

Struggling with ideas for what to do with your friends or family on a sunny day? Picnics are always a fantastic option. Treat yourself to a picnic basket as this will make your al fresco eating all the more convenient and will avoid the dreaded squished sandwiches!

Whatever you get up to this summer, make the most of it!
