Stagecoach South East get stuck into Tough Mudder, raising over £2,700 for Demelza!

30 Nov 2022

In September 2022, Stagecoach South East colleagues took on the obstacle course, Tough Mudder to raise £2,763 for local charity, Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

Colleagues from across Kent and East Sussex came together as a team of 30 to tackle the muddy obstacle course in South London where they raised an incredible amount of money for the charity.

Stagecoach South East has continued to work closely with Demelza, in addition to being the operating company’s charity of the year, colleagues who took part in Tough Mudder went to great efforts to fundraise for the charity at their local depot through sponsorship forms and creating a JustGiving page where people could donate online.

Those who took part in the course, received Tough Mudder 2022 packs, receiving wristbands, t-shirts, and headbands which they wore as they competed in the muddy course.

Running, jumping, crawling, and swimming, the team of 30 took on a number of trials that put them through their paces, leaving them totally covered in mud at the end of the course.

The £2,763 raised by the team covers the cost of 54 hours of specialist nursing care, helping Demelza to continue their vital work within the community.

Bus driver and Tough Mudder organiser for Stagecoach South East, Lee Conner, spoke of how proud he was he was that the region came together as one team to support the Kent and East Sussex charity.

“As always it was an amazing experience participating in Tough Mudder and to be given the opportunity and support to raise much needed funds for Demelza is truly an honour.

“I was also very proud that four depots from Kent and East Sussex were able to come together and participate as one team and get the chance to enjoy each other’s company.”
