Stagecoach South East’s Thanet depot took on a 5K colour run in Cliftonville last month, raising money for East Kent charity, Pilgrims Hospices.
In October, Palm Bay saw over 600 people take to the recreational ground, decked out in white shirts that were soon doused in rainbow colours as paint flew into the crowd along the seafront.
The event raised over £25,000 and saw Stagecoach’s Sarah Cloke, Nicola Godfrey, Garry Warren and his daughter take part in the Thanet Colour Run, representing the bus company.
The run was organised by Pilgrims Hospices, a local charity that supports people facing terminal illness so they can access quality care and comfort.
Garry, who has raised over £10,000 for charities, was thrilled to take part in the colour run. A regular long-distance runner, 5k was nothing new for him, but he did have the experience of taking part with his daughter this time.
“It was good to run and walk with my daughter, with paint flying everywhere it makes it fun if you don’t run.”
Adding another medal to his collection was also a perk for the bus driver who received support back at the depot, with two colleagues sponsoring him for the colour run.
Not hanging up his running shoes anytime soon, Garry will compete in the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April, fundraising for Tommy’s.
