Customers travelling through Canterbury bus station can get their hands on free travel, as 200 bus tickets are being given away to celebrate the launch of two new Customer Helpers.

Jason and Callum, who are now based at the station throughout the day, are each handing out 100 free tickets on a first-come, first-served basis to customers who stop by.
The new roles are designed to provide extra support for customers, helping with everything from journey planning and ticket queries to lost property and app support.
Jason brings more than a decade of experience to the position, having spent 12 years as a bus driver before becoming a controller at Canterbury bus station. A familiar face to many, he says returning to a customer-focused role felt like coming home.
“I came back because this is my family. I know every depot, and I grew up with these customers,” he said.
Known for his friendly and approachable personality, Jason prides himself on going the extra mile for customers.
“Sometimes it’s just about taking the time to listen. I’ve sat with customers for 20 minutes or more to make sure they leave feeling supported and confident.”
Joining him is Callum, a recent college leaver from Faversham with a strong interest in buses and the local transport network.
A keen photographer and enthusiast, he has already built up experience through railway work, helping organise events, and assisting with the restoration of a classic vehicle.
“We’re here to help, whether something gets lost or someone just needs guidance, we keep people moving,” he said.
The introduction of Customer Helpers aims to make journeys easier and more enjoyable by offering visible, on-the-ground support at the station.
Customers are encouraged to stop by, meet the team, and take advantage of the free ticket giveaway while supplies last.
