- 144 Stagecoach drivers achieve GreenRoad Fleet Elite status in 2024
- Advanced safety and telematics system continuously checks driving and helps improve efficiency
A total of 144 Stagecoach drivers from South Wales have been awarded Fleet Elite status in 2024, under a comprehensive driving safety measurement programme managed by GreenRoad. GreenRoad’s safety technology is used across all of Stagecoach’s buses in England, Scotland and Wales and has proven to be extremely effective in helping drivers improve their skills. Using a simple traffic-light-like LED system on the dashboard, GreenRoad gives drivers instant feedback about their driving manoeuvres, encouraging smoother, safer, and more fuel-efficient driving.
To gain Fleet Elite status, drivers must achieve an average of five or fewer events, such as harsh braking or acceleration, per 10 hours of driving over a 500-hour minimum period for the entire calendar year.
This year, a new category was announced called the “Grand Master Fleet Elite” for drivers who have driven to the Fleet Elite Standards for 10 consecutive years. Of the 144 drivers receiving an award this year, 12 were awarded the Grand Master Fleet Elite, 10 achieved Gold Master Fleet Elite, 17 achieved Silver Master Fleet Elite, 26 drivers achieved Master Fleet Elite, and 53 drivers received a GreenRoad certificate.
Mark Tunstall, Operations Director for Stagecoach South Wales, said: “To see so many of our drivers receive Fleet Elite, Master Fleet Elite and the new Grand Master Fleet Elite status is a real testament to the quality of our team across South Wales and their commitment to driving safely and efficiently. Smoother, fuel-efficient driving is safer and provides more comfortable journeys for our customers, as well as helping to cut our carbon footprint and meet our sustainability targets.
Congratulations to every individual who was awarded this year."
