In a unique collaboration, staff from Stagecoach South West joined forces with the Big Noise Chorus to clean Torquay beach on 18th August at 11am. The event was in aid of the Million Miles Beach Clean project, which is an annual action by Surfers Against Sewage to tackle plastic pollution.
The day started with a sustainable sing along on a Stagecoach bus, which transported the volunteers to the beach. The musical journey led by The Big Noise Chorus set a cheerful tone for the group ahead of the day’s activities.
Peter Knight, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, said: “Sustainability is a key focus for Stagecoach and this beach clean was the perfect opportunity to help raise awareness and highlight how people can get involved with looking after the environment. Teaming up with our local community choir, who we have supported this year was a fantastic way to celebrate the partnership and our shared goals of emphasising the importance of green travel.”
Colin Rea, Director of Music and owner of the Big Noise Chorus said “We had an amazing day with the Stagecoach team, we even got some of the drivers to join us in a song or two whilst we cleaned. It was brilliant to come together for Surfers Against Sewage and support their efforts to protect Britain’s waterways. It demonstrated our positive partnership and shared aims for a sustainable future.”
The Big Noise Chorus whose music will be extending their sustainable fundraising efforts with a one-off concert titled “Celebrating Our Wonderful World” also in support of Surfers Against Sewage.
