In recognition of Exeter being a host city for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, we are supporting Exeter City Council and Sandy Park in a joint campaign which celebrates women and girls in the game, at all levels.
The campaign, Because of Rugby, launched this month which is also Women’s History Month and we have been exploring how rugby has had a positive impact on our colleagues here at Stagecoach.
Emma and Leah Potter, from our Plymouth Depot, explain below what they have been able to do ‘Because of Rugby…’
Emma & Leah Potter
“Despite a love for the 6 nations, we didn’t start playing Rugby until we started at Plymouth Depot.
Our AOM asked what we were doing that evening as he is one of the coaches for Plymouth Dolphins RFC. So long story cut short, we ended up venturing out that evening to see what it’s all about, and we haven’t looked back since.
No sooner had we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms and since that day it’s been one happy family. We proudly train and support our 1st and development teams, and in the future, they are setting up a women’s team. Plymouth Dolphins RFC are a LGBTQIA+ team who are inclusive and open to anyone and everyone who wants to enjoy Rugby.
We train every Wednesday 6:30pm-8pm when our work commitments allow us, come rain or shine we are out on the pitch training.
I would recommend anyone who wants to have a go to come along and see what it’s all about.
It isn’t just about playing rugby with the dolphins, there are also nights out, quiz nights and other events. Since we have joined, we both have a better mindset and it’s exceptional if you want to blow the cobwebs away.
Anyone wanting information of how amazing our team is, then why not see for yourself.”
