Reduced Single Tickets Introduced on Andover Town Bus Routes

In partnership with Hampshire County Council, Stagecoach South is delighted to announce the introduction of £1 single tickets on main Andover town bus routes (services 1, 2, 3, and 4). This reduced fare initiative will run from Monday 27th January, until Easter Monday, 21st April, and aims to make local bus travel more accessible and affordable for residents.

This promotional initiative forms part of Hampshire County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) which directs funding provided by the Department for Transport towards measures that will help to grow bus passenger use on commercially run bus routes. Andover has been identified as an area with strong potential for passenger growth, including the routes that are being supported with the current fare cap.

To mark the launch, representatives gathered in Andover, including Mark Jackson (Operations Manager for Stagecoach South in Andover), Simon Canham (Assistant Operations Manager for Stagecoach South in Andover), Andrew Wilson (Hampshire County Council’s Strategic Transport Manager) and Cllr Kirsty North (Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Universal Services).

“We are pleased to partner with Stagecoach on this promotion, which will make it more affordable to use bus services that serve Andover town centre over the next three months. The aim of Hampshire’s Bus Improvement Service Plan funding is to encourage increased bus use. These discounted routes in Andover offer convenient early morning, daytime, evening and weekend services using a fleet of brand new buses, making it a convenient, easy and environmentally-friendly way for people to travel.”
